THE MADNESS! It was a night to remember! 400 International competitors from all corners of the globe, gather to fight, compete AND now they celebrate yet another WORLD JIUJITSU Championship! It was a ceremonious night, filled with music, dancing and booze. This is the PG13 version…what happens in VIENNA, stays in VIENNA. and yes, it’s safe for work.  But there is an interesting twist. Watch and enjoy. This is my last series of Vienna based VLOGS. Stay tuned….who knows where this saga will take the vlogumentary…who know and who cares! Bottom line: I HAD A GREAT F’N TIME! VICTORY! OSU! Yes.

TIME is running! But the FUN never ends. I met up with TEAM ETHIOPIA and we headed to the world famous Christmas Market in Vienna! Indeed, the day was cold and frigid but TEAM ETHIOPIA energy kept the day eventful and funny. Got to film some more of Vienna and it’s stunning architecture. Even drank some 막걸리! GANGNAM STYLE 4 real. WOOOOOO!

Over the last year, the association and Dr Degineh along with Hannes Daxbacher have been in the receiving end of a negative and destructive campaign..started by former students. But more importantly, Dr Degineh still remains focused on Judo and Jiujitsu development in Ethiopia.

What a day in VIENNA! After day 2 of WORLD CLASS JIUJITSU fighting. We went to the grocery store near the competition venue and bumped into just about everyone, including Dem TOUGH DANES, Team Denmark. We also bumped into Team SPAIN, Team France, one of Team Russia’s competitors as well as Team Poland. After this errand we went back to the hotel lobby and you can watch the rest! Long live the King of POP! OSS!

COMPETITION! This is what’s it all about! Or is it? It’s AN international event, a WORLD JIUJITSU Championship with over 400 competitors, from all weight divisions, from 40 countries, fighting to show the grace and perfection of their KATAs (techniques), the intricacies of their newaza and ground grappling skills (bjj/kosen-judo/sambo/sub&catchwrestling) and the hyper toughness and spirit of the JIUJITSU fighting system, involving striking, throws, pins and submission locks! Indeed. The BEST in the world gather yearly…to compete. And this time, they are @ the BudoCenter in VIENNA, AUSTRIA for the 2012 WORLD JIUJITSU CHAMPIONSHIP! Team ETHIOPIA is here, competing with the world’s best in their respective sport — of Jiujitsu.

And so I land in Vienna and run over to the 2012 JiuJitsu World Championship venue, called the Budo Center, looking for members of team Ethiopia….one thing leads to another and I get lost in the streets until this pretty lady saves my night! I finally get to meet Dr. Degineh and other members of the JiuJitsu Community! I’m filming my documentary, I don’t have much time, but things will flow the way they are suppose to! WOOOOOHH!

My last day in ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA. The greatest city on EARTH! YES indeed.
We visited Jemal’s dojo in Merkato, followed by a plunge deep into various Ethiopian regional dances and songs…truth is, Ethiopia is one of the most culturally, linguistically, spiritually diverse countries on EARTH. Europe maybe the OLD WORLD, but ETHIOPIA is the OLD OLD WORLD…I don’t need to elaborate, nor am I trying to persuade or convince you of anything. My time here was…I simply can’t put it into words….this vlog is NOT doing 1% the job it was intended to… coming here, filming a documentary and a documentary on marital arts was the greatest time of my life. Nuff said. VICTORY. YES.
